I’m amazed at the opportunity we have to share our faith in 2012. I had a person approach me at the bank and wanted to know what I thought about the upcoming dates on the end of the earth. It’s a God given opportunity to share the truth. What is the truth? There are so many hucksters and idiots out there, that it’s made it tough for us. Remember how 2 Peter told us there’d be scoffers? Well they’re coming out of the wood work, but don’t ignore the true seekers!
Do you realize there is an actual 122112 web site, declaring the end of time? Did you know if you look up 122012, you’ll find that it has 97 million hits! People are captivated, because God has placed eternity within our hearts (Eccl 3:11). People are “all ears” when it comes to the conclusion of the Mayan calendar. But that’s only one of the major secular harbingers of doom. Consider some others: 2) India is awaiting Lord Kalki, the incarnation of Vishnu, to destroy the planet. 15 million worshippers say he was born in 1998 & will start his destruction this year. 3) Iran is awaiting the 13th Imam, but they believe he will not return to set up a worldwide Islamic kingdom until Israel is annihilated. No wonder they want a nuclear bomb so bad. 4) Planet X, Nibiru, is scheduled to collide with the earth this year. Supposedly, the government isn’t letting anyone know because of hysteria. 5) Then some believe there is a pattern of mass extinction that occurs regularly on our planet. And it’s time for an "apocalyptic realignment" in our sun’s galactic plane. 6) There is the ever famous sci-fi alien invasion scheduled. Another secret that has not been unveiled yet is that the SETI program has drawn 3 large alien spacecrafts into our solar system and are due to arrive this year. 7) Some are touting the regular “Geomagnetic Reversal” of earth’s magnetic poles as the event that will end life in 2012. The facts are true, but the date is suspect say scientists. 8) One numerologist has calculated that the universe will reach “Infinite Complexity” in 2012. 9) A computer programmer that has successfully predicted several natural disaster and events, has deduced that the world will end this year. There are actually several others too, including the Hopi Indians, and the I Ching, but the point is that the world is anxiously anticipating something THIS year!
That’s where we come in (or go out, Maranatha). We need to be ready to tell people, “Yes there’s no doubt that the world is going to end. Jesus disciples asked him: Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” Jesus spent the whole chapter in Matthew 24 describing the end. I’m not sure if it’ll be 2012, but Jesus promised it’d be coming soon now. Is only question is will be ready? Are you?” That’s a very simple scenario, but be ready to use it, because you’ll have an opportunity, very soon. So let me ask you? Are you ready?
